Celebration of Krishna Janmashtami | History and Significance
In Hindu legend, Krishna is the human avatar of Vishnu who came into the world on that day in order to defeat Mathura's demon king Kansa who was the brother of Krishna's godly mother, Devaki. Krishna was born on August 8th (Ashtami) night of the fortnight that is dark during the Bhadrapada month (August-September) in Mathura and was Devaki and Vasudeva child.
